Frequently Asked Questions

Clear, direct answers regarding legal validity, client-side data privacy, stamp duty rules, and document filing procedures across India.

Legal Status & Document Validity

Is Docketry a law firm or do you offer legal advice?

No — Docketry is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation or counsel. We provide self-help drafting templates and procedural checklists so citizens can draft their own paperwork. For complex disputes or court appearances, consult an advocate.

Are documents drafted on Docketry legally recognized in Indian courts?

Yes — documents generated on Docketry adhere strictly to statutory provisions under Indian law. Once printed on requisite non-judicial stamp paper, signed, and attested or notarized where mandated, they carry full legal weight.

Can an individual file a consumer complaint or legal notice without hiring a lawyer?

Yes — Indian law expressly empowers individuals to act in person. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, you can file and argue your own petition, and any individual can issue a legal demand notice in their personal capacity.

Privacy, Security & Storage

Does Docketry store my personal details, Aadhaar, PAN, or financial numbers?

No — Docketry never stores, logs, or transmits your personal data. All form data and calculations exist strictly in your browser memory (RAM). When you close or refresh the tab, your entered information is erased instantly.

Can I use Docketry offline without an active internet connection?

Yes — once a tool page is loaded in your browser, it works completely offline. You can disconnect your internet, fill in your details, and generate your draft without needing a server connection.

Why do you not require an account or login?

We intentionally designed Docketry without user accounts to ensure absolute privacy. Since we do not want or need your personal information, requiring an account or email password would compromise that commitment.

Stamp Papers, Printing & Notarization

What denomination of Non-Judicial Stamp Paper is required?

Stamp paper values vary across individual state stamp legislations. Generally, affidavits require ₹10 to ₹100 stamp paper, 11-month rental agreements require ₹100 to ₹500, and Power of Attorney deeds vary based on family relation.

Does a Last Will and Testament require stamp paper in India?

No — a Will does not require stamp paper or stamp duty. Under the Indian Succession Act, 1925, a Will can be executed on plain paper, provided it is signed by the testator in the presence of two independent witnesses.

How do I print the generated document properly?

Use the built-in "Print" button on any tool result panel. Our print stylesheets automatically remove all website headers, footers, buttons, and advertisements, leaving only the clean formatted legal draft.
